Five killed in two N11 vehicle smashes
Three people had suffered fatal injuries trapped inside of the light motor vehicle. A fourth person was found in the back of the vehicle in a critical condition.

Five people were killed in two separate collisions on the N11 near Ngagane this morning.
Paramedics from ER24 travelling on the N11 came across a horrific collision that involved a light motor vehicle and a truck. According to paramedics, it appeared as if the incident occurred moments before they arrived on the scene.
Upon assessment, they found a vehicle in the middle of the road with severe damage and a truck standing on the side of the road. Three people had suffered fatal injuries trapped inside of the light motor vehicle. A fourth person was found in the back of the vehicle in a critical condition.
Due to the damage of the vehicle paramedics had to call upon the assistance of the local fire department to free the passenger from the wreckage. Once freed, the passenger’s condition suddenly deteriorated. Despite the efforts of paramedics, the passenger was later declared dead on the scene.
An elderly man was found several meters away from the vehicle. It is believed that he was ejected from the vehicle when it overturned.
The driver of the truck was not injured in the collision.
While paramedics were on scene, they were notified of another collision about three kilometres away from them. They made their way to the scene and found a car lying on its roof in a ditch next to the highway. An elderly man was found several meters away from the vehicle. It is believed that he was ejected from the vehicle when it overturned.
The man sustained fatal injuries and there was nothing that paramedics could do for him. They later declared him dead on scene.
Local authorities will investigate both incidents.
