April 18, 1994 is a date ingrained in the remembrance of South Africa.
More than 22 years ago, the first democratic elections established this great country as a story of success, of overcoming its history to prosper.
Last Monday, Utrecht united on this important date.
Ward 2 councillor, Ntsikelelo Ndlovu explained the march was held in commemoration of Freedom Month, but also to encourage voters to cast their ballots in the Local Government Elections.
“It was organised by the Operation Sukuma Sakhe Ward 2 War Room, in partnership with eMadlangeni Municipality.”
A head-count revealed about 200 people took part in the march, including school pupils and various representatives of local Government.
They walked from the Caltex Garage to the Market Stalls.
“The walk was concluded with speeches from various stakeholders, including Government officials, civil society organisations and local leadership.”
