Home-grown talent voted SA’s best
This accolade recognises him as Best Male DJ of the Year and Best Upcoming DJ of the Year
When Sizwe Ntshaba left his home in Thembalihle to travel to Johannesburg last week, he had no idea how this journey would change his life.
The 26-year-old house DJ, also known as DJ Spencer TMB, was among hundreds who were invited to attend the DJ of the Year Awards but he was among a select few who were nominated.
He was nominated in the categories Best Male DJ of the Year and Best Upcoming DJ of the Year. The red carpet event was held on Saturday, May 7 at Centinary City Hall in Krugersdorp, Johannesburg.
“People started arriving from 5pm and the event started at 6pm. There were a lot of people I was nervous but also excited,” said DJ Spencer TMB.
During the ceremony, all the nominees were called on stage before the winners were announced. Screams of delight escaped DJ Spencer’s lips when it was announced that he won both the categories he was nominated in. This accolade recognises him as Best Male DJ of the Year and Best Upcoming DJ of the Year.
How does that feel?
“I am so happy,” he says and it is evident by the sparkle in his eye.
He proudly displays the two trophies he received and said his mission is to take a positive message about music and education to the community, especially school-going youth.
“I would like to thank everyone that voted for me as well as Xolani Duma, Phumlani Khumalo and Unakane Records,” concluded DJ Spencer.
