The future lies in mentoring
Khulisa is looking for female mentors aged 25 years or older who want to mentor a girl during the programme

The Global Give Back Circle, today the largest gender based programme in Kenya, is now being implemented in South Africa.
The Circle, a Clinton initiative from America, focuses on girls and is working as a gap year programme. The concept of the Circle is unique, targeting young girls with a programme designed to provide lifelong skills.
The four pillars of the Circle are, IT skills training, career guidance, a Give Back ethos and mentoring. Khulisa is the proud implementing partner of the Circle in South Africa, now recruiting mentors for the programme taking place in Newcastle.
Khulisa is looking for female mentors aged 25 years or older who want to mentor a girl during the programme. The mentoring aspect of the Circle is done via social media, Skype or email, and you simply as a mentor, provide your time, support and ideas.
The mentor will have contact with the girls about two hours every month throughout the year.
All the girls participating in the Circle have requested a mentor, and are looking forward to start communicating. Khulisa will provide support and advice to both mentors and mentees.
The Circle was first implemented by Khulisa in 2015 in a pilot programme of 50 girls. Success was inevitable, as all girls graduated with new skills, improved self-esteem and a positive outlook on their future.
“My mentor was like a really good friend to me and I felt so relieved to have an outside person to talk to who was not a family member. It allowed me to ask personal questions and to get an input by someone with life experience different from mine” – Sthembile 21, from Newcastle.
Khulisa Social Solutions is a non-profit company operating from Johannesburg with offices in every province in South Africa. Every year Khulisa improves the life of 500 000 people through crime preventative and developmental programmes.
Khulisa wants to welcome all who may be interested in becoming a mentor to our office in Newcastle on May 18 between 10am to 11.30am.
