DHS victorious at NHS sports day
It was a fun filled day with many exciting games.

On May 21, DHS travelled to Newcastle to compete against NHS. It was a fun filled day with many exciting games. The learners thoroughly enjoyed themselves and the scores were as follows:
Rugby: u/14 lost 5-23, u/15 won 26-7 and u/16 won 20-12. The second team drew 0-0 and the first team played extremely well. Akhona Mhlongo made interesting interceptions and Siyabonga Nkabinde made a few good tackles and they managed to win the game with a score of 21-14. Overall, the rugby went well and a special note of thanks goes out to all the players and coaches for their dedication and hard work during the season.
Hockey: u/14 lost 0-6, u/16 won 1-0, first team won 3-1 with beautiful goals by Jessica Shanahan and Gabby Carter. The first team boys won 2-0. Overall the hockey went well and there were no serious injuries. It is amazing to see how the players have improved during the course of the 2016 season.
The school is excited to see their games against Sarel Cilliers next Saturday!

Netball: All the netball teams travelled to Newcastle on Wednesday in order to play their games due to the netball trials that took place in Durban on Saturday. The u/14B won 9-2, u/14A lost 5-9, u/15A lost 4-16, u/16A lost 7-17, second team lost 12-14, first team drew 17-17.
Golf: On May 20, two avid golfers, Keagan and Joshua Donaldson, travelled to Vryheid to compete in the first school’s golf league in the district. They played exceptionally well and managed to win the division that they took part in.
They had a wonderful day where they were able to develop new friendships and compete in a sport that many learners don’t have the privilege to be exposed to. Well done you two!
Thanks to Kevin Donaldson, who supported his sons and took them to VCC. It is always refreshing to see parents who support their children in their sporting ventures. DHS is excited to see what the 2016 golfing season will produce. Maybe they have a young McIlroy in their midst.
