VIDEO: Wings Club commemorates Kobus Dicks in style

Owner of AbaQulusi Superspar, Vryheid Wings Club Chairman and close personal friend of Kobus Dicks, Louis Smit, took a few moments at the microphone to remind guests of the commitment and generosity that Kobus is so fondly remembered for and for the special place he would always hold in the hearts of the Wings Club members.

VRYHEID Wings Club members pulled out all the stops to host a spectacular fly in, in memory of their fallen comrade, the late Kobus Dicks.

Pilots gathered at the airfield on Saturday, along with friends, family and fellow flying enthusiasts to commemorate Mr Dicks, who was tragically killed in December after his Eclipse Jet crashed in an open field near Swellendam.

Patrons were treated to daring displays of aerial acrobatics during the day and a rocking set by local band, Black Whiskey, later on in the evening after enjoying a delectable dinner provided by AbaQulusi Superspar.

Kobus’ daughter ChloĆ« was also present at the fly in and Smit thanked her for the important role she plays at the club in keeping the memory of her father alive.

Louis would like to thank all the members and everyone who got stuck into the arranging of the event, as well as expressing his gratitude to all the businesses who support the flying club.

“The town can expect a spectacular event next year,” he adds. “If all goes according to plan, the community can look forward to being entertained by some world class display pilots.”
