Spar broken into and teachers go on strike

HELP! read the headline as Home Affairs staff couldn’t take their working conditions anymore.
After their offices burnt down, staff were forced to operate out of a mobile truck opposite the Post Office. Residents queued up in the parking lot, waiting to be served and soon grew tired of the arrangements, taking their frustrations out on the staff in the process.
Charlies Spar employees got to work to find that the store had been broken into. Thieves made of with cash and an Opel Corsa that was parked in store. The car was meant to be a competition prize for a customer. The guard was tied up and taken hostage. He was later untied, stripped and dumped in Local Dam, Dannhauser.
Teacher union, SADTU, organised a major strike. Teachers downed chalk and refused to work, demanding better pay.
UThukela Water released a statement calling for calm after the discovery of rat tailed maggots in Dundee. The statement asked people not to panic, describing the maggots as ‘ugly but harmless.’
In sporting news, the Spar to Spar 10km Ladies race once again attracted a huge field. The top 25 finishers gained automatic free entry and transport to the Spar Ladies Race in Durban. Men could also enter, provided that they were dressed as women.
