Murderer behind bars
A 33-year-old man was arrested for the murder of his neighbour’s domestic worker, in Paradise, on July 21.
Allegedly, the 46-year-old domestic intervened in an attempt to help her employer, when an argument ensued between the two neighbours. The suspect allegedly stabbed the victim in the throat before fleeing.
When paramedics arrived at the scene, the victim was dead already.
The suspect was apprehended the same day and was taken into custody.
He appeared in Newcastle Magistrate’s Court on July 25, The case was postponed to September 2, and the suspect was remanded back in custody. Police investigations continue.

Business robbers apprehended
Police arrested three suspects between the ages of 40 and 44 years, for attempted robbery of a business in the Newcastle CBD on July 23.
It’s alleged the suspects gained access to the building by forcing open the burglar gates, when the alarm was triggered.
They appeared in the Newcastle Magistrate’s Court on Monday, July 25.
Police investigations are still underway.
Granite thieves nabbed in the act
Police arrested two suspects for stealing granite tops from a local business on July 22.
The owner of a business received a phone call from a neighbouring business, informing him of two men climbing over the precast wall. He rushed to his business to find two of his own employees stealing granite tops.
He apprehended the suspects and summoned police for assistance.
The suspects, aged 24 and 28 years old respectedly, appeared in Newcastle Magistrate’s Court on July 25.
Possession of dagga
Police arrested a 31-year-old man for the possession of dagga on July 15. It is alleged the suspect was found with 10 grams of dry, loose dagga. He appeared in Newcastle Magistrate’s Court on July 18.
In a separate incident, police arrested a 49-year-old man on July 15 in Riverside Industrial for the possession of dagga.
He appeared in the Newcastle Magistrate’s Court on Monday, July 18.
Alleged robber wanted by police
Police are searching for a suspect who robbed a woman at knifepoint in Lennoxton on July 15.
According to police, the woman was walking along St Bruno Street when the suspect robbed her of her handbag with belongings, valued at around R1 500.

House burglar still at large
Police are searching for a suspect believed to be implicated in a house burglary in Paradise, which occurred on Friday, July 15.
The suspect gained access to the house by breaking open the back door, and stole items valued at around R7 000.

Suspect nabbed for shoplifting
Newcastle police arrested a 33-year-old man for shoplifting on July 16.
Allegedly, the suspect attempted to leave a store without paying for merchandise, and was apprehended by store security.
He appeared in the Newcastle Magistrate’s Court on July 18.
Suspect nabbed for robbery
Newcastle police arrested a man for robbery on Boswell Farm, outside oSizweni, on July 16.
According to police reports, the suspect stole R5 000 in cash. He has since appeared in the Newcastle Magistrate’s Court.
Shoplifter caught in the act
A 36-year-old man was arrested for shoplifting on July 18.
According to reports, store security noticed the suspect taking items from the store and attempted to leave without paying. He was apprehend by security and the police were summoned.
The suspect has since appeared in Newcastle Magistrate’s Court.
