UPDATE: Shop owner lucky to escape with his life

After being shot at and stabbed numerous times, a 30-year-old Chinese shop owner is lucky to be alive.
At about 11am on Sunday morning, three men allegedly entered the man’s shop in Voortrekker Street, and held him at gunpoint.
Police sources revealed a struggle ensued between the owner and the attackers, and the victim was injured.
Emergency services stabilised the man on scene, before transporting him to the private hospital for treatment.
The man’s wife and baby were also present, and fortunately were unharmed. However, the woman’s cellphone was reportedly stolen.
A member of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce assisted the man’s wife with making a statement to the police.
Chairman of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce, Andy Cheung, said: “The man is in hospital recovering from his injuries. His wife and child are also doing okay.”
Details surrounding the incident are unclear, and police investigations continue.
