Tree feller jailed for 10 years

Deon Robberts has been sentenced to 10 years imprisonment for the sexual assault of a minor.
Mr Robberts. a well-known tree feller in the district, was originally convicted on two counts of rape and three of sexual assault.
He appealed the conviction and was released on bail pending his appeal.
Last week, the results of the appeal were received and Mr Robberts made his way back to the Regional Court to hear his fate. The court found him guilty of one count of sexual assault for which was he sentenced to five years. He was acquitted of the other two charges of sexual assault.
The court also found Mr Robberts not guilty of rape but guilty of contravening Section 14, Sub-section 1a of the sexual offences act of 1957.
His sentences for the three offences will run concurrently, effectively leaving him behind bars for 10 years.
