Young hunter narrowly escapes death

A young hunter narrowly escaped death on Saturday morning when he stumbled upon illegal hunters on a farm outside Dundee.

The 23-year-old was hunting alone when he came across a man hunting porcupine. He confronted the man, telling him that he would have to report him to the farmer.

The illegal hunter said he wanted to urinate and while the youngster was distracted, the man tackled him to the ground.

At this stage, two other men emerged from the bush. The hunter’s rifle was taken and a shot fired.

The hunter then ran off to call for help. The alarm was sounded and farmers security officials reacted combing the area. A helicopter was also called in to assist in the search for the illegal hunters.

No arrests have yet been made.
