Operation Basadi yields 8 arrests

Eight arrests were made as a large contingent of female police officers from Ladysmith SAPS took to the streets on Friday night.
The officers worked under the command of the Ladysmith Station Commander, Brigadier Zandile Kunene, and performed several types of duties which included suspect raids and patrols in Ladysmith and surrounding areas.
The operation was carried out in line with Women’s Month and dubbed ‘Operation Basadi’.
Eight suspects, aged between 20 and 41 years old, were arrested. A small amount of dagga, a flat-screen television and two DVD players were recovered by the officers.
The arrests were for rape, assault, possession of dagga and being illegal immigrants.
