Welcome rain brings light relief

Meanwhile, the prayers for follow-up rain continue

Falls of rain up to 32mm were measured in the area over the past three days in the Endumeni area.  Hattingspruit recorded a single fall of 25mm on Wednesday evening.

The welcome rain brought some relief amid the crippling drought and severe water restrictions.  The rain was accompanied by thunder and lightning and there was a report of at least one house in extension 18 being struck by a bolt of lightning and a woman in the house was said to have been injured.

Despite the relieving rain, the drought continues and the level of Chelmsford dam, from where water for Endumeni is pumped into the Buffalo River, was said to be just over 40% this week.

Meanwhile, the prayers for more rain are continuing.
