Marking their 52nd anniversary, Child Welfare SA: Glencoe branch, spread the goodwill by handing out much-needed groceries to desperately needy families to mark Diwali. The groceries were bought through funds raised by the organisation.
Yoshan Nehro, chairman, said the families had been identified through the organisations’ data base and from input given by the community and committee members. “Our organisation assists the community where families are stuck in cycles of abuse, violence, drug and/or alcohol abuse. Most of these are symptoms of poverty because of joblessness. We also assist the elderly and vulnerable in the community,” said Yoshan. The project was co-ordinated by Welfare committee members including Yoshan, Dr I Bedassi (vice chairman), Anisha Nehro (secretary) and Roshni Bedassi (treasurer).
