Work continuing apace to restore Glencoe water

“We understand the frustration from our customers and we are working tirelessly to make sure this is solved as a matter of urgency.”

Specialist engineers are continuing to carry out urgent repairs in Glencoe to restore the water supply to the central residential area that has been waterless since Thursday.

Nomonde Nzimakwe of the Umzinyathi District Municipality said the specialists will continue the work they started yesterday.

“The system was flushed out of air yesterday, and water was accessible up until the four-way stop near the municipal offices. Today they will be working on making sure the rest of the town has water.”

Asked about the availability of water tankers in the affected area, Nomonde explained: “In regards to water tankers, unfortunately, they cannot stop house to house, but they pick a central point that will be accessible for everyone on that particular street, so as to make sure everyone has access to the water. The tankers will be in the affected streets today, they will be helping until this crisis has been solved.

“We understand the frustration from our customers and we are working tirelessly to make sure this is solved as a matter of urgency.

“We encourage all to use water sparingly as the drought is not over.”
