On Saturday morning Sam-Lyn Edu Centre and Paddock were a hive of activity as parents and guardians came to see what their children were involved in.
Over 100 people walked through the gate and the heat did not deter anyone from having a thoroughly enjoyable time. Parents and guardians were treated to tea and cake and then watched a presentation on the activities before joining their children in doing many of the activities themselves.
They watched their children using the Readers are Leaders programme on the computer, did puzzles with them, played educational games and listened to a story on a CD, using the headphones. After that, half an hour was spent reading with parents and guardians – an extremely important part of our programme.
People were free to wander through Paddock grade RRR while being shown and told about the programme. The grade RRR children had a wonderful time playing on the jungle gym and browsing through books, etc.

A spontaneous rendition of “their” song had parents enthralled at the centre and all were delighted as they wended their way home, fully aware of the funding from N3TC that enables us to run this programme, aimed at the Intermediate Phase as well as grade seven, for the children.
