A fun and educational baby day at Newcastle Mediclinic

Parents to-be as well as other parents filled the room to capacity in anticipation of learning more about baby care and parenting skills.

NEWCASTLE CBD – Mediclinic Newcastle hosted a baby day at its conference room last Saturday, February 25.

Parents to-be as well as other parents filled the room to capacity in anticipation of learning more about baby care and parenting skills.

Physiotherapists, as well as a teaching instructor were in attendance.

“Sleep when the baby sleeps,” was one of the main messages.

Mothers were advised to trust their instincts and go with the flow.

“A textbook method for one baby would not necessarily work for another,” said physiotherapist, Anette van Kampen.

Following a healthy diet and regular exercise were highlighted.

“Especially if mum is breast-feeding, she needs to eat healthily. Baby eats what you eat,” elaborated Mrs van Kampen.

How to soothe a crying baby was also on the agenda.

“Crying is a baby’s language. It is the way they communicate with mommies. Be observant and look out for signs. It is not a negative sign,” she advised.

“Lastly, make time for hubby too, because he also needs some attention.”
