A man who was travelling between Estcourt and Ladysmith is in a serious condition in hospital after he was a victim of a suspected attempted hijacking this morning.

The man was travelling in a van when he drove through what has been described as a ‘well-planned ambush.’

Gunshots were fired at the vehicle and the man sustained several gunshot wounds.

He drove to Ultra City on the seek refuge and assistance and collapsed shortly thereafter.

He was attended to by emergency personnel before being rushed to hospital.
