Woman narrowly escapes suspected hijackers in Lennoxton

“The car stayed in front of me and was driving very slowly, I could not overtake as there was oncoming traffic.”

ARBOR PARK – A quick excursion to the bank turned into a frightening experience for Lynn Seur.

“I went to the bank at Newcastle Mall early Thursday morning and on my way out, a Mazda cut me off.”

Not concerned, Mrs Seur turned left and took the road toward Fairleigh and Lennoxton.

“The car stayed in front of me and was driving very slowly, I could not overtake as there was oncoming traffic.”

Frustrated, she noticed a black car speeding up to the rear of her vehicle.

“It drove close behind me, and while I kept a safe driving distance behind the Mazda, I did not think anything was wrong at first.”

However, she soon realised the Mazda was driving slower and the two vehicles were trying to sandwich her car in between theirs.

“I was worried, as at that stage there were not many other cars on the road. I saw a truck driving towards us, I decided to take a chance, overtook the Mazda as fast I could, narrowly missing the truck.”

She turned at the stop sign into Fairleigh, to see the two cars had vanished.

“I suspect if it had not been for the truck and me suddenly overtaking the Mazda, they would have stopped me.”

The thought of what the two mysterious motorists had planned for her, sent shivers down her spine.

“They must have seen me leave the bank and thought that because I am a woman, I would be an easy target.”

She could not identify the make of the black vehicle, but said the Mazda was metallic blue.

“Their windows were dark and dirty. Both cars had MP registration numbers, but I did not take note of the rest of the registration.”

She warned Newcastillians to be vigilant when driving in town.

“We are often blind to our surroundings, which we should not be,” she concluded.
