From Friday until yesterday (March 8), the various police stations under the Uthukela Cluster arrested numerous people for drug-related crimes.
Colenso police officers were patrolling in the Esikhaleni area when they spotted dagga growing in the garden of one of the residents. The 35-year-old homeowner was arrested for cultivating dagga.
The dagga has an estimated street value of around R800.
Ematsheni SAPS arrested a 55-year-old suspect in the Obonjaneni area who had 3.2kg dagga in their possession, which has an estimated street value of around R4000.

Ezakheni SAPS arrested a 39-year-old suspect at a tuck shop in C-Section with 48g of dagga, as well as a 29-year-old suspect and a 24-year-old suspect in St Chad’s who had 62g and 300g of dagga on them, respectively.
The total street value of the dagga is around R300.
A 49-year-old suspect was also arrested by Ezakheni SAPS for possession of a parcel of dagga weighing a few grams, while a 33-year-old suspect was arrested for possession of two parcels of dagga also weighing a few grams.
The street value of the drugs is around R200.
Upper Tugela SAPS arrested a 50-year-old suspect for possession of two bags of dagga in the Sandlwana area. The dagga weighs 15.4kg and has an estimated street value of around R22,000.
They then arrested two suspects, aged 20 and 23, who were found with three bags of dagga weighing around 50kg each with an estimated street value of around R75,000.
This while Ntabamhlophe SAPS arrested six suspects (aged 40, 21, 53, 47, 55 and 34). They were found in possession of small amounts of dagga of 16 grams and less, the estimated street value being around R300.
Bergville SAPS arrested a 35-year-old suspect in the Emmaus area who was found in possession of 28 small parcels of dagga weighing 200 grams and having a street value of around R400.
Adding to the successes, Wembezi SAPS arrested a 46-year-old suspect in the Nkwezela area for possession of a small amount of dagga with a street value of R100 and Van Reenen SAPS arrested a 20-year-old in Wragg Road who was in possession of 12 grams of dagga with a street value of R100.
Amangwe SAPS members were doing crime prevention duties when they stopped a vehicle in which they found 31 bags of dagga weighing 251kg.
Two suspects, aged 20 and 43, were arrested. The street value of the dagga is around R450,000.
Ladysmith SAPS arrested a 26-year-old suspect in the Lyell Street taxi rank. He was found in possession of 150 slopes of dagga and four parcels of dagga weighing in at 700g. The street value is around R1500.
A suspect, aged 25, was also arrested in the Peacetown area after he was found in possession of a few grams of dagga with a street value of around R200.
All the suspects have been appearing in various courts across the Cluster.
