
A joint operation between the SAPS Air Wing and Bergville SAPS resulted in arrests and the recovery of drugs on Friday morning (March 10).
Police helicopter pilots, who are busy with training, are gaining practical experience by assisting with stock theft and other operations in the Uthukela Cluster.

A roadblock was held in the Emmaus area by police officers from Bergville SAPS, while three police helicopters searched in the mountainous areas and located dagga plantations which were then destroyed.
Over 56 dagga plants were seized during the operation and one person, aged 41, was charged with cultivation of dagga. Two others, aged 33 and 41, were arrested with loose dagga which weighed in at over 1kg.
The estimated street value of the recovered drugs is over R150,000.
The suspects are due to appear in the Bergville Magistrate’s Court today (March 13).
