A stinking hole, filled with garbage and fetid water is making life unpleasant for residents living in the vicinity of what is commonly known as ‘at the end of Gladstone Street’.
Metres away from the houses, the crater in the overgrown veld could become a source for disease.
The pungent smell of effluent hangs in the air. The smelly water appears to be running from a concrete sewerage pipe while careless passers-by have dumped rubbish into the crater, adding to the toxic environment.
One resident claimed to having seen cattle-heads tossed in the pit but there was no evidence of this when the Courier visited.
The health authorities have been contacted regarding the complaint and residents hope that steps will be taken to clean up the mess.
