48 people arrested in Uthukela Cluster, including Ladysmith

The arrested suspects range in age from 21 to 38 years old

No less than 48 people (47 males and one female) were arrested in the Uthukela Cluster during the course of last weekend.

The arrested suspects range in age from 21 to 38.

They were arrested for crimes that include possession of suspected stolen property, possession of a firearm, possession of ammunition, housebreaking, possession of drugs, drunkenness, driving under the influence of alcohol, as well as dealing in drugs.

The suspects were arrested during ‘stop and search’ operations, as well as other planned operations. They appeared in different courts across the Cluster on Tuesday (March 14).

Among the recovered items are an I-phone, a small quantity of dagga, rock cocaine, as well as cash that is suspected to be the proceeds of crime. The value of the recovered items is estimated to be over R50,000.
