53-year-old caught in the act of harvesting dagga near Ladysmith

The street value of the drugs is estimated to be around R48,000

Quick response by Bergville police resulted in the arrest of a 53-year-old man who was caught in the act of harvesting a dagga plantation.

On Monday morning (March 20), Bergville Visible Policing officers received a tip-off and rushed out to the Potsheni area, where they arrested the man.

Dagga trees with an estimated weight of around 32kg were recovered in his possession. The suspect has been charged for dealing in dagga and appeared in the Bergville Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.
