The dumpsite, a work in progress

THINGS are slowly but surely coming together at the dumpsite as the contractor, Deezlo, set up their camp and hired four community members last week.

Four community members, two from the dumpsite community, one for the Quarters area and another from Sasko were lucky enough to be selected to form the team that will be working on erecting the fence around the dumpsite within the next 20 weeks.

On Monday, March 20, Deezlo was set to have the materials delivered to the site.

According to their site agent, S’bonelo Nsindane, everything is moving smoothly and according to plan.

“Everything is in line. We are aware that there have been issues regarding this place but now that we are here let us all focus on working and completing the project,” said Mr Nsindane.

The Councillor of the area, Cllr Magda Viktor, said that the community members who were lucky enough to get the jobs were very pleased but she has also been getting questions from the community as to whether or not the contractor would be needing more people.

“There are no jobs and these people are desperately seeking work so we are hoping that more positions will be open as the project moves along,” said Cllr Viktor.

Although materials were set to be delivered on Monday, Mr Nsindane said that most of the work would start on Wednesday, as Tuesday would be a public holiday.
