Abused and possibly rabid dog found in Van Riebeeck Park, Ladysmith

Annamarie said she would take the dog to the vet for a rabies test on Monday due to the unavailability of vets over the weekend

After receiving a complaint from a resident of Van Riebeeck Park, Annamarie Koen from the Animal Anti-Cruelty League (AACL) went out today (March 25) to rescue an abused dog.

The crossbreed female was in a terrible condition.

“When we found the dog, its mouth was foaming and it could not stand properly,” said Annamarie.

Annamarie said she would take the dog to the vet for a rabies test on Monday due to the unavailability of vets over the weekend.

Due to its aggression, a catch pole had to be used to capture the animal.

The dog won’t eat or drink water.

“People should take care of their dogs and make sure they test for rabies. Also take precautions to ensure that your pet is not at risk of contracting this deadly disease,” advised a concerned Annamarie.
