LENNOXTON – A shop owner was stabbed and robbed at gunpoint at his store in Hathorn Street, Lennoxton last night (March 26).
The owner claimed the incident took place at around 8pm when he was closing shop for the day.
“Seven men came in and pointed a gun at my friend behind the counter.”
A few of the perpetrators proceeded to ransack the cash register, while the others restrained the owner.
One of the suspects then drew a knife and attempted to stab the owner.
In the owner’s attempt to defend himself, he was slashed on the hand by the knife-wielding suspect.
“They took cigarettes, airtime and money from the shop.”
Security companies, as well as police were dispatched, and one suspect was apprehended.
The other suspects are still at large, and authorities appeal to the community to be vigilant.
This is the second robbery the shop has experienced in the last year.
