Last Wednesday the Department of Community Safety and Liaison in conjunction with Inkosi Langalibalele Local Municipality launched the Community Safety Forum (CSF).

The launch took place at the Forderville Hall. The main function of a CSF is to co-ordinate the crime prevention activities of all government and non-government organisations (NGOs) that are involved in crime prevention in an area.

This newly formed CSF is fundamental in the safety standards of the community. According to the Department of Community Safety and Liaison, Inkosi Langalibalele is the first municipality within the district to come forward and assist with reducing crime and increasing the safety.

Addressing the ceremony, Mayor of Inkosi Langalibalele Councillor Jabulile Mbhele said: “In a bid for a secure and safe environment; crime and accidents on our roads constitute a huge loss on GDP, which costs the country’s economy billions. Thus, it is our responsibility to make sure we are at the forefront in community safety initiatives and in making sure that our communities know this in order to protect our economy and lives.”

“The CSF aims at attracting all the people of Estcourt to play an essential role in ensuring a safe and secure environment, added Sphe Zikalala, Inkosi Langalibalele’s Communications Manager.
