Jacques and Yolandi Wolmarans are grief stricken after their husky, Titan, was poisoned and three puppies were presumably stolen from their house in Signal Hill on Saturday, March 25.
“I left the house in the morning, and my dogs were fine. When I returned at around 1pm, I realised three of my puppies were missing from their kennels,” he said.
Mr Wolmarans also noticed Titan was missing, and reported it to police, but was shocked when he was allegedly told a stolen or missing dog did not constitute theft.
“I could not believe what I heard! In my opinion a theft case is a theft case, regardless what item has been stolen.”
Panicked and scared, Mr Wolmarans asked residents on social media to be on the lookout for the puppies and Titan.
“A while later, I received a phone call from a friend who informed me that Titan had been knocked by a car in Victoria Street, and that someone had taken him away from the area. After searching everywhere, I finally found him at the local veterinary clinic.”
Mr Wolmarans said the veterinarian suspected his beloved pet had been poisoned with temik before he was hit by the car. Although the vet went beyond his call of duty to keep Titan alive, the dog passed away the next day.
