Police officers from the Ladysmith K9 Unit, Uthukela Crime Intelligence Gathering Unit, the Uthukela Cluster Task Team, as well as Ezakheni Visible Policing Unit, recently arrested three people for serious crimes committed in the Ezakheni area.
On Tuesday afternoon (March 28) , a 28-year-old man was arrested when officers swooped down on his house in Ezakheni B-Section.
He was found with an unlicensed 9mm pistol.
The suspect was also being sought for a robbery that had occurred earlier in the month. The incident occurred in Ezakheni C-Section, where the suspect robbed a person of his cell-phone.
The suspect is due to appear in the Ezakheni Magistrate’s Court later this week. He faces a charge of being in possession of an unlicensed firearm, as well as robbery.

The same group of officers were in the Umhlumayo area early yesterday morning (March 29).
They pounced on a residence in the area, where they arrested a 42-year-old woman after she was found in possession of eight bags of dagga. She has been charged with being in possession of dagga and is due to appear in the Ezakheni Magistrate’s Court.
The recovered dagga weighed in at just over 100kg, with an estimated street value of around R150,000.
A 22-year-old man will also make an appearance in the Ezakheni Magistrate’s Court later this week after he was arrested for a case of house robbery that occurred in the Ezakheni area recently.

A resident was asleep when she heard a noise inside her house. Upon investigating the noise, she found two people inside her house. They made off with a TV and two cell-phones.
