Bergville Visible Policing members with some of the dagga plants recovered from a 53-year-old man.

A suspected dagga dealer was caught in the act by Bergville police last Monday morning.

Members of the Bergville Visible Policing received a tip-off and proceeded to the Potsheni area where they found a man harvesting a dagga plantation. The 53-year-old man was promptly arrested.

“Dagga trees with an estimated weight of around 32kgs were recovered in his possession. The suspect has been charged for dealing in dagga,” commented police spokesperson Captain Charmaine Struwig.

The street value of the drugs is estimated to be about R48 000. The man appeared in the Bergville Magistrate’s Court on March 22.
