A burst water pipe at the corner of Third Avenue has left nearby residents concerned as to how much water is being wasted.
According to residents, the pipe has been leaking for over 10 years and the municipality has failed to fix it in all that time. The leak is on the corner of Third Avenue and also runs down Helpmekaar Road.

A story about the same pipe was written when a resident complained that the situation has been costly to him personally, as it damages the walls around his property. When asked about the issue, the complainant stated that he has made numerous repairs to his walls and it seems like he is going to be doing so forever, as the municipality fails to come and fix the pipe.
Nearby residents are complaining about the loss of water, with the municipality always urging consumers to use water sparingly.
“The municipality is very good at telling us to save water and not to waste it, and when we do so by reporting these issues, nobody ever comes and fixes them. This is real incompetence from the municipality,” said a concerned resident.
