Despite leaving the Paddadam park immaculately clean after the market, this is the sight that the team were met with on Sunday morning. Sam, who is one of the workers who has been part of the Paddadam Project, cleans up the mess left behind by the 'hobos' who tore open the black bags and left behind the mess.

FOLLOWING the success of the Paddadam Family Market Day and the combined efforts of the team and the community to ensure that the park remained unblemished by the day’s activities, by neatly packing all the rubbish on the grounds into black bags, ready for collection on Monday, the Paddadam team were met with an unfortunate happening.

“Hobos came in and started tearing the bags open,” stated Doug Grewar on Sunday morning.”Oom Gert [Fray] chased them off but they came back in the night and made a hell of a mess for us to clean up this morning! This is why we need to fence Paddadam.”

Maggie Steyn, who commented on Doug Grewar’s post, raised the point that “Wouldn’t it be wonderful if there were no homeless people needing to scrape a living from other people’s garbage?”
