School is stressful enough, and lugging around a bag full of books is neither good for your child’s posture nor healthy for their development. Planning ahead of time and sticking to a timetable are a must.
Among other important items in a child’s school bag, these are some of the essentials and must-haves:
1. Water bottle
Staying well-hydrated helps with concentration and focus. Always have a water bottle handy especially for those surprise personal training sessions after school.
2. A notebook
A scribble book to jot down important notes at the last minute is helpful. Keep a cool looking one which can double as a scrap book.
3. Pocket tissues and hand sanitiser
Tissues always come in handy. Colds, spills and oopsies are inevitable; it’s always better to be safe than sorry. Keep germs at bay with a nifty pocket size hand sanitiser.
4. Pencil case
A case to hold all stationery is vital in a child’s schooling career. A one-stop-shop with everything they may need.
5. Lip balm
Especially in dry seasons like winter, lip balm is imperative to prevent chapped and bleeding lips.
6. Hair-tie or bobby pin (girls)
You will never know when that hair-tie will break. Having a spare one in your child’s backpack will save them a trip to the principal’s office.
7. Sunscreen lotion
Applying sunscreen is not debatable. Even in overcast and cold weather a light sunscreen needs to be applied to protect young skin from ultra violet rays.
8. Deodorant
Sometimes after a long sporting session children still need to go back to the classroom. A deodorant spray can keep them fresh until they get home to shower.
9. Some change
Most schools nowadays almost always have a tuckshop. Giving your child or children an allowance for the week can offer them an opportunity to spend their money well and buy themselves treats too.
10. Snack
Children are hungry 24/7. Having healthy snacks in their backpacks will keep them happy and sustained…until they get home.
