Can you help Vryheid’s Renè Coetzer to reach new heights in the ‘land Down Under’?

TOWERING above most girls her age, 17-year-old Renè Coetzer has always been a dominating force on the netball field.

The netball-loving teen has been selected to represent South Africa in the Southern Cape Sports Tours tour to Gold Coast Queensland Australia 2017, after her talent was spotted at a recent Netball Tournament in Cape Town.

During the tournament, players were encouraged to put their names down for the tour but, when Renè saw the costs involved in taking part, she couldn’t bring herself to do so, realising that there was no way her family could afford it.

However, Renè was shocked when, despite not putting her name on the list, she was called up, out of 2400 players, during the prizegiving as one of the players who had made the teams to tour Australia. Not only is Renè the only player at Pionier to be selected, she is also the only player from KwaZulu Natal to receive the honour.

“It’s my dream to represent my country in netball,” she says with a smile.

But big dreams come with big prices, and Renè needs your help to make this dream a reality.

The total cost of the tour is close on R40 000, with the first instalment of R5 672 due by May 1, only five days away.

In order to ensure her place in the touring team and give their talented daughter an opportunity to realise her dream, the Coetzer family are appealing to the public to assist with donations.

With the help of sponsors, Renè will be able to reach new heights in the world of netball and put Vryheid on the map. Her proud mother, Amanda Coetzer, plans to have a Tshirt made for Renè, with all the names of the sponsors printed on the front and the South African flag printed on the back for our very own netball phenom, Renè Coetzer to wear while she is down under.
