Whoonga confiscated in C-Section

The sale and use of drugs is widespread in and around Estcourt. Police, who partner with community members, have since the beginning of the year, confiscated drugs valued at more than R2 million in the Uthukela Cluster.
The latest recovery and arrest was made on April 24 when a 20-year-old woman was arrested for possession of dagga and whoonga. Whoonga is a lethal combination of rat poison, soap powder, and the main ingredient is Anti Retro-viral (AR-V’s), AIDS medication.
On the day at about 2pm, police officers from Wembezi were patrolling when they received a tip-off.
An informant told them that a woman was selling dagga and whoonga in C-Section.
“Police proceeded to the area and found a 20-year-old woman in possession of 36 dagga parcels, weighing a few grams each, as well as nine straws of whoonga,” said police spokesperson Captain Charmaine Struwig.
The woman was promptly arrested and charged with possession of drugs. She appeared in the Estcourt Magistrate’s Court on April 25.
