Several of Sarel’s netball players were selected for the Umzinyathi teams to take part in the KZN trials in Durban this past weekend.

Early Saturday morning Sarel travelled to Hoy Park in Durban to take part in the KZN trials. The teams were announced after a grueling day of selections. Congratulations to Bongeka Manyathi and Ngobile Moetenalo who were chosen to represent KZN at the All Ages Tournament in July.

Sarel teams faced a gruelling week of league games
This past week was a tough one for the Sarel Cilliers players. They faced Amajuba High School, as well as Newcastle High in league matches. At the same time various trials took place and some netball players went to Durban as part of the Umzinyathi teams to take part in the KZN trials. Please be reminded that Pionier High School will be playing against Sarel Cilliers in Glencoe on Saturday, May 13. Your support will be appreciated!

Netbal
Op Woensdag 17 Mei het Sarel Cilliers kragte gemeet met Hoërskool Amajuba. Die uitslae is as volg: o/14A 8-9, o/14B 7-11, o/15-16 19-6, 1ste span 26-9. Die Umzinyzthi-proewe het op dieselfde dag plaasgevind. Baie geluk aan die leerlinge wat gekies is vir die Umzinyathispan wat Saterdag in Durban aan die KZN proewe deelgeneem het.
Saterdag, 6 Mei, het Newcastle Hoërskool ons op ons tuisveld aangedurf. Dit was stywe kompetisie en ons meisies het hulle harte uitgespeel. Newcastle wen die o/14A, o/15A en B wedstryde, terwyl ons gelykop speel in die o/14B westryd. Ons o/16A span het 16-9 gewen. Baie dankie vir al julle harde werk.

Sarel checkmates the opposition
The chess team played against Amajuba on Wednesday, May 3 at Sarel Cilliers and won five of the six games that were played. The games were won by S. Msane, B. Smith, L. Xaba, L. Maphumulo and T. Jaji. On Saturday, May 6, Sarel faced Newcastle High School at home. Congratulations to N. Buthelezi, Z. Buthelezi, N. Neerahoo and S. Oellerman on winning their games.

Rugby
Sarel Cilliers High school took on Amajuba High School last Wednesday. The u/15s played the first match and managed to win 43 – 14, while the second team played against their first team and after a tough battle managed to win 24 – 12. Best wishes to Khuselo Zuma who had a serious injury, breaking his leg.
On Saturday, Sarel Cilliers took on Newcastle High School and managed to win the day, as well as the games. Scores are as follows: the u/14 team won 39-0, u/15 won 26-14, u/16 won 54-0 and the second team won 55-0. The first team demolished their opponents by beating them 64-5. Congratulations to all of our rugby players for your outstanding performances on and off the rugby field.

Hokkie
Die 1ste span hokkie meisies het Woensdag die 3de Mei teen Amajuba gespeel. Sarel het 6-0 gewen. Saterdag, 6 Mei, het Sarel teen Newcastle Hoërskool gespeel. Die o/14 span het 1-0 gewen, met S. Van Zyl wat die wendoel reg aan die einde van die wedstryd beklink het. Die o/16 span wen 7-0 en die 1ste span hokkie meisies wen 3-0. Die 1ste span seuns verloor ongelukkig op die einde met 0-1.
