KZN FCS units secure 15 life terms and over 200 years’ imprisonment

A total of 316 suspects were arrested for various crimes such as rape, sexual assault, child abandonment and robbery

Family Violence, Child Protection & Sexual Offences Units in KwaZulu-Natal have managed to secure a number of convictions for crimes directed at women and children.

The team of dedicated investigators had 598 cases for the month of April and secured 27 convictions.

Among those convictions are 15 life sentences and 238 years’ imprisonment secured in the past month for rape.

A total of 316 suspects were arrested during the said month for various crimes such as rape, sexual assault, child abandonment and robbery.

“It is evident that the FCS units in the KwaZulu-Natal province are committed and dedicated to making sure they protect our women and children, and also send all the perpetrators to jail where they belong. Their names will also be listed on the National Register of Sexual Offenders,” said the KwaZulu-Natal Acting Provincial Commissioner, Major General Bheki Langa.
