THE Soul Buddyz at Impumelelo Yethu School commemorated Freedom Day by presenting the rainbow nation as part of their identity, and as part of the makeup of their community.
The main aim of celebrating Freedom Day in this way, was to let everyone know that freedom is not ‘free’. There are heroes, who fought hard for the freedom that we enjoy today.
During the Freedom Day event, pupils held up their placards describing how each race group is a vital part of our nation. Pupils expressed pride with regards to living in such a diverse country.
They also read passages from Nelson Mandela’s autobiography, ‘A Long Walk to Freedom’, during the morning assembly.
