Three suspects were arrested after they assaulted two men in the CBD on Saturday, may 6.
While out on patrol, Newcastle 911 Community Policing Forum members spotted five men armed with knives, assaulting the two victims. Upon approaching the scene, it is alleged the suspects jumped into their vehicle and drove to a petrol outlet nearby.
When they realised they were being followed, they attempted to flee on foot through the Mosque parking lot.
Newcastle SAPS were contacted for assistance, and after a search was conducted, three of the five suspects were finally apprehended at three separate locations.
The victims were taken to hospital for further treatment.
