MP3’s final swan song is here!
While it is no longer supported, it will take a while to die

Rest in peace, MP3 – Almost every audio track downloaded from the internet bears this tag at the end of the track name.
MP3 files shot to fame because they were easier to download, consuming less space on the bandwidth as well as your device’s memory. Well, there’s some bad news – MP3 is no more.
Fraunhofer IIS, who developed the popular audio format in 1988, have stopped the licensing programme to various software developers. The codec has been the go-to audio codec for the past two decades.
The developers stated that current media services such as streaming or TV and radio broadcasting use modern ISO-MPEG codecs such as the AAC family or will in the future use MPEG-H. MP3, as it currently stands, cannot compete.
Most audio files, however, are still downloaded using MP3 and it will take years to finally bury the codec, but as of now, MP3 joins the growing list of software that has passed its sell-by date, like Windows 98, XP and Vista.
