COMMUNITY members in the Makhwela area in Ngoje were left speechless after a businessman in the area decided to donate 127 full school uniforms to the children at the local primary school.
Mr Robert Khulu, who owns a welding school in Mpumalanga, decided to buy full school uniforms, including shoes and socks, for these children as a means to give back to his community.
As a resident in Ngoje, Mr Khulu went to this very primary school as a child.
A handing-over event was held on Wednesday last week and he also donated R8000 towards buying groceries for the catering and gave the school a cow to be slaughtered on the day.
The principal of the school, Mr SPS Mwelase, said that as a school they were completely blown away by this courteous gift.
“We are highly grateful to Mr Khulu, who spent just over R52 000 for our school. We honestly have no words to explain how grateful we are to him,” said Mr Mwelase.
Vryheid Education Department’s circuit manager, Mr MV Khumalo, and the Director of Education in KZN, Mr PD Majola, also attended the event.
