Michaelis girls make Inland teams
Although this was the first tournament for our little U/7’s and tensions were high, they drew three matches and lost only one.
ON May 17, our mini hockey girls took part in a tournament at Lucas Meyer School.
Although this was the first tournament for our little U/7’s and tensions were high, they drew three matches and lost only one. Our U/9 team, consisting mainly of U/8 players, gave it their all! Although they drew one match and lost three, they really played well. We would like to thank LMS for this very well-organised and enjoyable afternoon. We look forward to joining you again next year.

Rugby: This week, 10 boys made history for Michaelis Schule, as they were the first to represent our school in rugby, as an entire team! Well done to these Grade 1 and 2 boys who made up an U/8 team to play in the LMS Mini Rugby Day. The first game was played against Wittenberg Schule and we lost 3-1. For the second game, we faced Piet Retief B, where we just lost 1-0. Well done, boys, for representing your school and playing your hearts out. Thank you to our coaches, Pierre van Niekerk and Selwyn Müller, for your patience and dedication. A special thank you to the sponsors of our rugby jerseys, Küsel Farming and ProQS. The boys looked very smart in their brand new outfits! We look forward to seeing you progress during the season.
Wind Symphony from Chicago: The Concordia University’s Wind Symphony from Chicago performed in the Michaelis Church last Wednesday evening. What a privilege to hear sixty-seven very talented musicians perform. The symphony is conducted by the passionate Prof Richard Fischer. Thank you to the Vryheid community who came out in the cold to support this special event.
Senior Hockey: This last weekend saw a group of our children traveling to Pietermaritzburg to attend the KZN Inland Trials. We are very proud to announce that Daniela Vonkeman made the KZN Inland Girls U/12 A Team and Tracy Steffensen has been chosen to represent the B Team. Congratulations, girls, on your fantastic achievements and we wish you luck for the matches ahead.
