Dannhauser police are mourning the tragic loss of fellow officer, Constable Nkosinathi Innocent Buthelezi, also known as Nduna.
He was killed by an alleged drunk driver while on duty on the evening of May 25.
According to Dannhauser Communications Officer, Sergeant M. Nyembe, Constable Buthelezi was attending to an accident scene on the Dundee-Dannhauser road when he was killed.
While attending to the scene, another vehicle travelling at a high speed knocked him over, killing him instantly.
“The driver was under the influence of alcohol.”
“The suspect was immediately arrested at the scene, and was charged for driving under the influence and culpable homicide, and will appear in the Dannhauser Magistrate’s Court soon.”
Constable Buthelezi rendered his services to the Dannhauser police for over nine years and worked in the Community Service Centre (CSC).
“We would like to convey our condolences on the passing on of our colleague, Constable Buthelezi who died unexpectedly and unnaturally while performing his duties.”
“He was very dedicated to his job and recently played an important role in arresting a suspect involved with a business robbery. May his soul rest in peace,” said Dannhauser SAPS Acting Station Commander, Captain A. Vilakazi.
