Uthukela Cluster Task Team nabs drug dealers near Ladysmith

Both suspects have been charged with dealing in dagga

Two alleged drug dealers were dealt a blow over the weekend when police officers from the Uthukela Cluster Task Team swooped down on two households in the Kwa Vala area of Amangwe (Loskop) on Friday night (June 2).

At the first premises, a 48-year-old female was arrested after being found in possession of 296kg of dagga.

The dagga was packed in bags and more was found in drums.

The recovered dagga has an estimated street value of around R450,000.

At the second premises, 77kg of dagga was recovered and a 60-year-old man arrested.

The street value of the drugs is estimated to be around R115,000.

Both suspects have been charged with dealing in dagga and appeared in the Estcourt Magistrate’s Court on Monday (June 5).
