Three men have appeared in court for being in possession of suspected stolen copper after being arrested on Monday (June 5) by vigilant police officers from Van Reenen SAPS.
The officers were patrolling the N3 highway when they noticed the men alongside the roadway, carrying bags and acting suspiciously. The men were stopped and their bags searched.
Officers discovered that their bags were full of copper.
The men, aged between 25 and 39, were unable to account for where they had gotten the copper from and were arrested.

They appeared in the Ladysmith Magistrate’s Court yesterday (Tuesday, June 6), facing charges of being in possession of suspected stolen property.
The copper has been valued at over R35,000.
