Family Violence, Child Protection & Sexual Offences (FCS) Units in KwaZulu-Natal made a total of 360 arrests which led to 46 convictions during the month of May. This included eight life sentences, 329 years and six months imprisonment for crimes directed at women and children.
KZN FCS Units worked tirelessly to make sure that the arrested suspects faced the full might of the law and received deserving sentences for their crimes.
The suspects were arrested for cases including rape, attempted rape, sexual assault, common assault, kidnapping and child pornography.
Some of the cases remain under investigation and are presently in court.

“These sentences are a clear indication that our FCS Units in KwaZulu-Natal are committed and dedicated towards ensuring that they protect our women and children by sending the perpetrators to prison where they belong.
“Our detectives are committed to ensuring thorough and responsive investigations. We appeal to the victims not to hesitate or be afraid to report cases to the police,” said the KwaZulu-Natal Acting Provincial Commissioner, Major General Bheki Langa.
