Police weed out cannabis stashes in Loskop

A 48-year-old female was arrested after being found in possession of 296kgs of dagga

Both drug dealers and users have been dealt a blow from police this month. In the area of Kwa Vala in Amangwe (Loskop) officers from the Uthukela Cluster Task Team swooped on two households.

A 48-year-old female was arrested after being found in possession of 296kgs of dagga. The dagga was being stored in bags and drums. The dagga recovered from this alleged drug dealer has an estimated street value of around R450 000.

At a second house 77kgs of dagga was recovered from a 60-year-old male. He was arrested. The dagga is estimated to be worth about R115 000.

Both suspects have been charged with dealing in dagga and appeared in the Estcourt Magistrate’s Court on Monday. Estcourt police also arrested two suspects, aged 21 and 53, for the possession of dagga.

The dagga was recovered after a crime prevention operation was conducted at the Estcourt Taxi Rank on Saturday. Both suspects were issued notices to appear in the Estcourt Magistrate’s Court on July 4.

In addition to these arrests, five more people were arrested by Amangwe police after being found in possession of small amounts of dagga.

The total amount of dagga recovered was just over 2kg and has a street value of approximately R3 000. The arrested suspects, aged between 37 and 42, were charged with being in possession of dagga and they opted to pay admission of guilt fines.
