A local businessman is unhappy with how long police took to respond after being the victim of theft on Friday (June 9).
A man wearing blue overall pants and a black shirt walked into Bellis Flats, situated in Diamana Road, and stole a resident’s belongings. Christopher Fobian, a local businessman who has a shop on the premises, had his store banners stolen.
After being alerted by his neighbours, Christopher called the police and then gave chase after the thief.

He managed to get his belongings back after finding the man hiding in bushes in the street.
“After calling the police, I gave chase in an attempt to get my belongings back, as the banners play an important role in my business.
“I must say, I am very unhappy with the police, as they responded long after the incident had taken place.”
He asks what the use is of having police as an emergency service if they take ages to respond and let the criminals get away.
The incident took place at about 2pm and police evidently only arrived at about 5pm.
Christopher, as well as nearby residents, also plead with the municipality to cut the long grass in Diamana Road, as crooks use the area to hide before and after committing crimes.
