Teenage boy’s rapist finally sentenced to jail

A 38-year-old was sentenced to 20 years behind bars for the rape of a 15-year-old boy at Msomi Stand, Blaauwbosch in oSizweni.

A 38-year-old was sentenced to 20 years behind bars for the rape of a 15-year-old boy.

The crime took place on April 25, 2015 at Msomi Stand, Blaauwbosch in oSizweni.

SAPS Corporate Communications and Liaison Officer, Lizzy Arumugam said the victim was visiting his grandmother when the rape occured.

The accused, who is the grandmother’s neighbour, called the boy to his house.

He then pushed him into the house, whereby he proceeded to rape him and keep him hostage overnight.

The following morning, the victim’s grandmother demanded to know of his whereabouts the previous evening.

“He then informed her of what happened to him.”

His grandmother quickly reported the case to the police, and it was handed over to the Newcastle Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit.

Police wasted no time in arresting the accused.

He was kept in custody until he was sentenced in court on May 31.
